Nintendo hasn’t done much with the Switch’s firmware lately. The last few updates, includ ing versions 17.0.0 and 18.0.0, contained very few new additions. In fact, at least a third of the Switch updates released in the past 10 months were non-reboot updates.
Well, Nintendo released a new update a little while ago. After the update, the switch firmware should now be at version 18.0.1. Not surprisingly, this update doesn’t really do much. The focus is on solving problems related to wireless access points. You can see the official patch notes in full below.
- Fixed an issue where some wireless access points could not be found when setting up a new wireless network.
- If you are unable to update to version 18.0.1 due to problems, please temporarily change the security settings for your wireless network to use only “WPA2 (AES)” so that you can connect wirelessly to download and install system updates.
- After updating to version 18.0.1, reset your network security settings to their previous settings.
- General system stability improvements to improve user experience.
