Nintendo hasn’t done much with the Switch’s firmware lately. The last few updates, including versions 17.0.0 and 18.0.0, contained very few new additions. In fact, at least a third of the Switch updates released in the past 12 months were non-reboot updates.
Well, Nintendo released a new update a little while ago. After the update, the switch firmware should now be at version 18.1.0. Not surprisingly, this update doesn’t really do much. Its main purpose is related to removing the Switch’s X/Twitter integration. You can view the patch notes in full.
- The following updates have been made to termination of X (formerly Twitter) integration:
- “Post to Twitter” option when sharing with Album in Nintendo Switch HOME menu has been removed.
- Ability to post screenshots of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from Album in Nintendo Switch HOME menuin that Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app has been removed.
- Removed Xa (formerly Twitter) link option from “Settings” > “User Preferences” > “Social Media Posting”.
- Removed option to link social media accounts from “I Page” > “Friend Suggestions”.
- General system stability improvements to improve user experience.
