In an exciting announcement, publisher Dear Villagers and developer Sunnyside Games have revealed that the long-awaited side-scrolling action-adventure game, Night, will be released on June 7. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. Players can expect to purchase the game for $19.99 on consoles and $16.99 on PC.
According to Sunnyside Games co-founder Gabriel Sonderegger, initial feedback from Steam Next Fest and PAX East has been overwhelmingly positive. Sonderegger expressed his delight at finally being able to offer players a complete gameplay experience, saying, “We wanted Nocturnal to flow effortlessly between fast, frenetic action and hair-raising tension, with multiple sources of light constantly being depleted. It’s an exciting balancing act that we think platforming fans will really enjoy.”
In Nocturnal, players take on the role of Ardeshir, a soldier of the Enduring Flame, who embarks on a challenging journey back to his home island of Nahran. The island is shrouded in a mysterious fog, and Ardeshir must use fire as a repellant to make his way and discover the island’s secrets. However, the Fog is not just a passive obstacle — it relentlessly pursues the protagonist, adding an element of urgency and danger to the gameplay.
Key features of Nocturnal include engaging in intense combat against various enemies that impede progress, strategically using fire to navigate through the Mist, awakening the dormant power within Ardeshir to tame the flames, and exploring the vast island to uncover hidden abilities and locations. The game also offers a Speed-Run mode for players who want to challenge themselves and improve their finishing times.
As the release date approaches, anticipation is building among gamers eager to embark on this exciting adventure. Nocturnal promises a unique blend of platforming, combat and exploration, all wrapped in an atmospheric world full of mystery and danger. Get ready to wield the power of fire and discover the secrets of Nahran when Nocturnal launches on multiple platforms this summer.
