Welcome to another edition of Box Art Brawl, a weekly vote to see who wins by losing second and second in the boxing beauty pageant. Three regional types of the same game cover who is the sharpest.
Last week we had a series of comebacks Resident Evil 2. We looked at the N64 version, even though GameCube covers of the same game were the same in all regions. After a bloody thunderstorm with a backlash from the dead, Europe rallied 46% of the votes before North America with just 5%, while Japan was left to order zombie juice by 13%.
This week's battles are part of a series with a long history of excellent boxing. Well, the Belmonts are back for another California game, and this time it goes by a different name for each position. US students know it as well California: Dracula X, those in the PAL area will see it as California: A Vampire kiss, and in Japan it is called Akumajō Dracula XX. The game was a Super NES restoration of the PC engine game California: Blood Horn
That's enough banter – we've got a great group of Dracula's bad associations to beat. Come on!
Japan
Brooding vampire with blood red eyes against the backdrop of a full moon? Look.
A young muscular warrior with a whip chain ready to fight a dirty hellspawn? Look.
Mustard bats from the collecting Gothic palace? Look.
Well, everything seems to be in order. Enjoy your game.
North America
Also, we have all the requirements for the California cover, even though this one is a win in the region. A few bats, a close-up of a yellow and red eye, a bloody X … It's very different, but you've spent some time with it and the cover really grows on you. It is also lighter, more points than that.
Europe
The European version uses Japanese fine art but tosses it into a purple border. We won't lie, the Vampire & # 39; s Kiss logo treatment feels pathetic after the previous cover – it's like the name of the band trying hard & # 39; 90s on the fly with the flig. Wooohooohooo, vampires !!
You know, though? We still love it. Tough decisions to be made this week! We are glad that it is not for us.
