Before the players they had to unlock them using in-game currency or game time. Additionally, Mythic skins will be available in a Mythic Shop, with the previous ones being released after two seasons. More free coins will also be awarded as you progress through Battle Passes.
These changes seek to revitalize the game and make it more accessible to players. This is the message published on its official blog:
Starting with Season 10, all new heroes will be available upon launch. Additionally, players will have all existing heroes unlocked. Therefore, heroes will no longer have to be unlocked with the battle pass to use them in all modes.
New players will still need to complete the first user experience to unlock heroes as they learn the basics. Once the original Overwatch heroes are unlocked, all Overwatch 2 heroes will also be available.
At BlizzCon last year, we previewed Hero #40, Venture, showing off her unique underground mechanics and fearless, adventurous spirit. We’re excited to announce that all players will have immediate access to Venture as soon as he officially joins Overwatch 2 in Season 10.
Changes to mythics
We want to give you more control over how you earn Mythic Hero skins. Season 10 will include changes to how these skins are earned, upgraded, and unlocked with the new Mythic Shop.
With the Mythic Shop you can earn both Mythic skins for heroes from the current and previous seasons as you progress through the Premium Battle Pass. You can choose how much you want to delve into each mythical aspect. For example, if you don’t want to fully unlock model or color variations for a skin, you can pass progress to other mythic skins.
We’ll also be adding Mythic skins from previous heroes to the Mythic Store so you can pick up your favorites. Mythic skins for heroes from a particular season will be available two seasons after their debut, so Mythic skins from Se asons 1-7 will be available in the Mythic Shop at the start of Season 10.
We’ll provide more information on the Mythic Shop and other changes to the Premium Battle Pass as we get closer to Season 10.
Challenges and coins
Starting in Season 10, you’ll earn Coins as you progress through the free and premium sections of the Battle Pass, making them easier and more consistent to earn. We are also increasing the number of free coins from 540 to 600 per season.
Weekly challenges will be more flexible to fit each playstyle and will now award Battle Pass XP.
Always new mechanics
Beyond heroes and customization, we’re still looking for ways to refresh the core mechanics of Overwatch 2. Season 9 brought big changes to the core gameplay and competitive mechanics. Our long-term intention is to maintain a consistent pace of play with new or updated systems, changing the meta from top to bottom, implementing rank resets, and including new rewards. We are considering how often to introduce these changes and are paying close attention to your feedback.
We’re working to make Overwatch 2 as fair, fun, and competitive as possible.
More maps to explore
We’re happy to share our plans for map releases and updates.
Contender, the new mode we introduced at BlizzCon 2023, will debut this year along with two maps. Prepare for intense action in the limited-time Brawl event on the new Hanaoka map at the start of Season 10. We’re excited to hear what you think.
Season 11 will include Runasapi, the new preview map that highlights the unmistakable setting of Peru in the world of Illari and the Inti warriors. We are also redesigning some of the existing maps. Additionally, season 11 will include a redesigned Colosseo.
We have heard your comments about Dorado, Circuit Royal, La Habana and Numbani. We’re working on significant updates to these maps, so keep letting us know which maps you’d like us to take a look at in the future.
Overwatch 2 evolves with each season, and your feedback is a fundamental piece. Heading into Season 10 and beyond, the team is working hard to provide a fun experience for everyone.
As Season 10 approaches, we’ll have another In Development discussing upcoming competitive and Defense Matrix updates, including how we deal with inappropriate behavior, competitive and group restrictions, and anonymity. of the players.
