After learning information about the situation against the CERO and ESRB coronavirus, responsible for classifying video games by age in Japan and America respectively, now comes information from Europe. As you can imagine, we are talking about PEGI, the organization in charge of carrying out this classification in the continent.
According to what has been shared, the situation of PEGI is very similar to that of ESRB: it will not be affected by the coronavirus thanks to telecommuting. This is the message they have posted:
In summary: yes, we are currently working telematically with minimal impact on our operations. When this situation started to unfold in Europe a couple of weeks ago, we quickly found a way to continue our daily operations by working remotely. Since PEGI (in Brussels) works with two independent managers located in the Netherlands and the UK, and they deal with publishers around the world that we don't have to meet in person, remote cooperation has always been part of our daily routine . But now it happens from homes instead of different offices.
We inform companies that use the PEGI system that, until the local authorities announce a change in the current measures, we will be working like this. But so far, the impact of the pandemic and the resulting measures have been minimal.
This means that in Europe there will also be no delays in rating games by age. What do you think?
