While the surprise was ruined when Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica leaked, there was still plenty of hype for both games. One thing that Persona 5 Tactica has going for it that stands out the most is its art style. Well, coincidentally, Famitsu recently interviewed Team Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada, director Naoya Maeda, artist Hanako Oriba, and business producer Atsushi Nomura about the game’s art style.
In the interview, the developers were asked about the approach they took with the game’s art style. Oribe said that “the art direction when it comes to the chibi-style design reminded many of the PQ series of games. However, Tactica is not a sequel to PQ, and the game genre is different. So, I set out to create the artwork that I felt was most symbolic of this title. In the seven years since Persona 5 was released, there have been many spin-off projects. And if we were going to release another new game, we felt that it should be challenging both in terms of content and appearance. I think that’s something that the development team as a whole was aware of, not just me.”
