Atlus, the publisher of Unicorn Overlord, recently announced that physical copies of the game have sold out in stores across Japan. Released worldwide on March 8, 2024, the game received a huge fan response, leading to a sudden shortage of physical copies. In a statement addressing the shortage, Atlus apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the sold-out status of Unicorn Lord. The company also expressed its “deep gratitude” to fans for their overwhelming support, which contributed to the game’s successful sales. To accommodate eager players, Atlus mentioned that copies are being renewed and shipped in order of purchase. Fans are encouraged to pre-order with their local retailers to secure a copy as soon as they become available again.
For those who couldn’t get their hands on a physical copy, Atlus has assured fans that the digital version of Unicorn Overlord is readily available on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store. The Standard Edition digital version is priced at ¥8,778, while the Monarch Edition, priced at ¥13,178, includes a 20-song 16-bit arranged music album and a 132-page digital art book featuring artwork from the game. As for the timeframe for physical copies to be restored, Atlus did not provide specific details on when retailers can expect a new shipment or when the game will be back in stock in Japan. The publisher also did not disclose whether the shortage was due to underestimating demand or under-supplying retailers.
