Pokemon GO’s eagerly awaited Gigantamax Raids didn’t quite go as planned for Niantic and players as they coincided with an event where the company accidentally banned multiple user accounts. Niantic acknowledged the unfortunate timing of the accidental bans and apologized for it. The game’s toughest test so far hasn’t been a disappointment-free event, as player reaction has unfortunately turned out to be mixed. Eurogamer reports that 10 players is the recommended minimum for this event, although the lobbies can accommodate groups of up to 40, of course it wasn’t ideal for smaller community groups. With fewer players, the event was inevitably more difficult as it apparently featured a “surprisingly complex set of mechanics” that most mobile players weren’t used to, and those mechanics weren’t well explained in-game.
