The Pokémon Company’s latest mobile project has avoided the nightmare of failure, with Pokémon Sleep bringing in a whopping $100 million in revenue over the past year, according to estimates from AppMagic data obtained by Pocket Gamer.
According to the report, the birthplace of Pokémon contributed the most to the total, with Japanese players spending roughly $73 million in pursuit of their sleep-tracking and Pokémon-collecting goals. The second is the USA with 15 million dollars, and the third is Taiwan with 4 million dollars. Although not explicitly stated in the analysis, the remaining $8 million is likely attributable to other countries where Pokémon Sleep is available.
In-game events drove revenue to a peak, with the Holiday 2023 event last December earning $4 million in a week – the game’s most profitable week ever.
Although the game’s very existence once seemed like something out of a fever dream, it has since managed to generate amounts of money that most of us can only dream of. As the game continues to celebrate 20 million downloads worldwide and will do so for its first anniversary next week, now might be the time to join Professor Neroli as he studies the sleeping habits of Pokémon alongside yours.
