Since its release Pokémon Sword and Shield
Pokémon took the top spot for the ninth week in a row. If that was never good enough, now it is it was revealed this is the longest game ever in the first place on the Famitsu sales charts. The previous record holder who was in the # 1 spot for eight consecutive weeks Pokémon Diamon and Pearl when it was released back in 2006.
Before Sword and Shield Arrive, no other game was so close to the existing record. Super Smash Bros. Finally apparently had one of the better opportunities to bring down Pokémon when it managed to last for the first five consecutive weeks finally come down.
The question now is, how long can Pokémon Sword and Shield last? Last week, Game Freak confirmed that Pokémon HOME will launch next month, and alongside that it has been announced that a new two-lane corridor will be launched, with the first location – the Isle of Armor – slated to release by the end of June. Perhaps this additional content will inspire more Switch users to play the game and may keep the latest entries in the series on the charts longer.
