You may remember a indeed a fan-made glamor Metroid II: The Return of Samus – better known as Project AM2R (Retake of Metroid 2) – released in 2016. Ever wondered what the developer has been up to since Nintendo closed? Well, it was actually the result of dreams for him in the end.
Speaking to Vice, Milton "DoctorM64" Guasti – who has spent more than a decade working on his Metroid 2 team – reveals how he went on to become a level designer at Money Studios in just four years. If you didn't know, this is the developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest, and the upcoming release, Ori and the will of Wisps.
All of this happened when Guasti one day received an "odd" email:
I was thinking about my business the other day … And all of a sudden, I got this weird email from some famous guy I didn't know. My reaction was, & # 39; Hmm, okay, or someone has the intelligence to trample me, even if this is legal
The email came from Mon Studios, asking him to name the Ori level so he could get a job in the studio. Fortunately, he played many games with interesting level designs behind the drag notifications (including Ori and the Blind Forest) and the rest is history.
Though Guasti joins Mon Studios well in the development of Ori's second game, he has since "touched on many different parts" of the sequel – and is very proud of the game's clear sequence.
