There really were beautiful statues from video games in our time, like the statue of the first 4 figures of Samus Gravity Suit from Metroid to the funny Ghosts ‘n Goblins statue from Dream Figures.
We love the one-off designs though; statues that are unlikely to be available to the general public, but nonetheless exhibit a level of originality that simply cannot be replicated elsewhere. And yes, we’re a little jealous that we can’t get our hands on them either.
Take, for example, this wonderful epoxy resin statue from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble, created by MiniQuest 64 and published on social networks. It shows Dixie and Kiddy Kong riding the Hover Craft from the game as a direct homage to the box art design.
However, what is particularly impressive, we’re sure you’ll agree, are the water effects. This is something that people can achieve with epoxy resin, and it is absurdly real. The devil is in the details with this one, and we love the foamy water surrounding the Hover Craft and the tasteful use of the Rareware logo in the top corner.
MiniQuest 64 has several other dioramas worth checking out YouTube; mainly from Warcraftbut there’s another stunning piece from the Donkey Kong franchise along with a lovely look at Kirby in which he sits atop a shiny, fluffy cloud. Nice stuff.
