A moment ago we talked about efforts Team Eclipse, a group of modders looking to create what they consider the most ambitious Super Mario Sunshine mod ever. Synchronized ‘Super Mario Eclipse’it’s actually billed as an unofficial sequel to the GameCube classic, and as part of the modders’ efforts, they’ve managed to recreate the 2001 SpaceWorld demo level in its entirety.
The mod is coming out later this year June 30, 2024, but it’s not the only option if you’re dying to experience the original SpaceWorld demo. Another mod under the name Portable productions created ‘Super Mario Sunshine 2001’ (thanks for the heads up, Reimagined gameplay), which will be a fully playable mod that accurately recreates elements from Nintendo’s own demo.
We should clarify here that this is being touted as an original experience, so many aspects of the mod are expected to differ from the original demo, and it will also be full of new gameplay surprises, including new bosses and a fully operational train system. Sounds neat!
So whether you’re looking for something that’s actually a complete sequel to the original Super Mario Sunshine, or perhaps looking for a more authentic recreation of the SpaceWorld demo, it seems the modding community has you in good hands.
Now we just need Nintendo themselves to make an official sequel. How about that, um..?
