If you were a fan of Nintendo during the Game Boy Advance generation, then you might have experienced Camelot’s fantasy role-playing series Golden Sun. It got two games during this time and even allowed players to transfer across some content to the second game, Golden Sun: The Lost Age.
As much as fans would love to see this series make a return, Nintendo doesn’t seem to have any plans of reviving it. That’s why every time the internet hears or sees something mentioned about Golden Sun, it sort of goes into a bit of a frenzy. What’s even better in this case, is that Nintendo has officially acknowledged it this time around.
The latest reference to this classic RPG series appears via Switch Online’s new Nintendo 64 service if you press ‘X’ to learn more about Camelot’s original Mario Tennis game. Admittedly, a reference like this might be hard to take for some fans when GBA titles aren’t even available on the service.
“The Mushroom Kingdom’s finest hit the court in this wild multiplayer tennis game from the developers behind the Golden Sun and Mario Golf games!”
None of the other descriptions for the Nintendo 64 library of games really make reference to the history of the developers, so it’s interesting to see certain Camelot titles being recognised. The last real sighting of the series was in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Isaac as an assist trophy), and long before this we also got Golden Sun: Dark Dawn for the Nintendo DS.
When a Golden Sun name drop like this gets so much attention from fans, do you think it’s about time Nintendo revives this beloved RPG fantasy series? Perhaps it could give it a makeover like the Advance Wars series or something? Leave your own thoughts down below.
