Earlier this week, we revealed how a trained task force dubbed ‘Team 0%’ attempted to complete every community level in the original Super Mario Maker game before Nintendo shut down online functionality for the Wii U and 3DS April 8, 2024.
As he struggled to take down one final level called ‘Trimming the Herbs’, the story has changed a bit since then – the level’s creator confirmed that it was an “illegitimate transfer” (thanks, OatmealDome). So the final community level was actually “The Last Dance”, approved by ‘Yamada_SMM2’ on March 15, 2024
This means that every community level in the game is now cleared. Mission accomplished! Here’s some of what the team behind the effort had to say in an update:
“Trimming the Herbs was actually a TAS (Tool Assisted Supergame), clearing ‘The Last Dance’ last level!”
To get to this point, the Mario Maker community had to knock down a whopping 25,000 unbeaten levels since last October. It’s an amazing feat once again!
That’s it, folks! The shutdown of Wii U and 3DS online services will happen next month in April. If you have some last-minute things you want to do while the service is still active, now is the time to fire up these older Nintendo devices. You can learn more about opting out in our guide:
