With the launch of Nintendo Music, fans now have a legitimate opportunity to check out some of the best music tracks from Nintendo’s storied history. Yes, it’s a little barebones right now, but we have no doubt that it will expand significantly in the coming months and years.
It seems The Big N is quite interested in newbies diving into his new app as well. According to a couple of reports from Matthew Reynolds on Bluesky and the user July 96 on Reddit, Nintendo is actually hosting ads for Nintendo Music on streaming service Spotify.
Of course, this won’t apply if you’re paying for Spotify premium, but for anyone who uses Spotify’s free service, it’s entirely possible that you’ll run into an ad for Nintendo Music between songs. We can’t confirm for sure, but we suspect its appearance would be more likely if you listen to video game music.
Is it cheeky? somehowwe assume. Still, it’s certainly a viable tactic. Let’s be honest, Nintendo Music doesn’t really want to compete with Spotify. Like many endeavors Nintendo undertakes, the app is simply a dedicated way to listen to the company’s OST releases, and that’s about it. Advertising this on another audio streaming service seems perfectly reasonable to us.
