Visible "single code correction" Super Super 64 reportedly fixing the visual disturbance in Mario's first 3D release. The smoke Mario exits when it comes in contact with lava or any other hot material has been replaced by a "much better" smoke particle that was reportedly present during the game, according to Polygon.

It is now known that this move is displayed in the wrong format by the game, resulting in pixels of black garbage. Since the video game smoke of the era was always reflected in pixels of black garbage, the error hasn't been seen for over twenty years. This pond corrects the error by displaying the texture properly as a suitable clear smoke. It does not include any new art; texture was always within the ROM.
