Random: This Zelda: TOTK Rupee problem might be the easiest we’ve seen

Remember the early days of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom when money making problems plagued Hyrule? Ah, simpler times. Of course, many of them were patched shortly after they were discovered, but it was only a matter of time before a new one came into view.

So surprise! There’s a new one, and it looks pretty easy (as long as you’re in the early game, that is).

Good people in Reimagined gameplay they discovered that Hyrule’s economy isn’t what it used to be and, in certain cases, rupees can be earned without having to part with any hard-earned materials.

We assume this will only be useful for those starting a new save file since it requires you to go through the tutorial area of the game without collecting any materials. However, the results are that you can stock up on rupees quickly without selling anything.

The video above from Gaming Reinvented shows the bug in action, but you can also check the following list for all the necessary steps:

  • Complete the Great Sky Islands guide without collecting materials
  • Take the Hylian Shield — or any shield with cost value, for that matter
  • Talk to the merchant and tell him that you will be selling items
  • Choose the only item available (your shield) and watch the payments come in without the item disappearing
  • Repeat as many times as you want

It might take a little time to set up (getting through the tutorial without downloading anything is hard work), but if you want to start a new run with a full wallet of rupees, this seems like one of the easier methods out there. Until it’s fixed, of course…
