We often found ourselves asking ourselves many things about The Legend of Zelda franchise and, more specifically, its main protagonist, Link. Which link is the strongest? What does he do in his spare time? How long does he actually sleep?
However, what we’ve never really considered is which relationship might be the stinkiest. We’re pretty sure no version of Link smells absolutely perfect — consider the grueling workout he’s put through in every game, for example — but as for which is the absolute stinkiest? That is honestly lost on us.
After TikToker decided to rank the Links according to how stinky they are, however, Wired decided to question longtime producer Eiji Aonuma and Kingdom Tears director Hidemar Fujibayashi on which Link is the stinkiest. Aonuma, perhaps rather predictably, went with Link from Breath of the Wild (and, presumably, Tears of the Kingdom), citing that Barbarian Armor, in particular, would create some pretty unpleasant smells.
Fujibayashi, however, agreed with Link from Twilight Princess, saying that not only does Link dig through the ground and run through dungeons like a wolf, but he also spends a lot of time physically dealing with the Goron tribe (be quiet in the back!) :
“There are some scenes in Twilight Princess where Link engages in sumo wrestling with the Goron tribe. I guess he’s pretty stinky in that situation.”
At least we can check this off the list of things to ask Aonuma and Fujibayashi in the future. Maybe we could think of something else in the meantime. Where the hell are all the toilets in Skyloft?
