After Ubisoft confirmed last month that Michel Ancel will be a consultant on the new Rayman project, the series creator has now confirmed it in a post on Instagram.

He mentioned that he was “very happy to be consulted” and confirmed that it was “a real pleasure” to know that Rayman and his friends will be back. Ancel also took the opportunity to talk about the recently disbanded development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – calling for a “deserved sequel”:

“For the Lost Crown POP team, let’s hope they can reform and produce a well-deserved sequel. Ubisoft [sic] understand that the success of such a project is connected with the birth of a strong collective. This is priceless. Maybe one day the leaders will realize that!”

Ubisoft has already confirmed the involvement of Ubisoft Montpellier in this new Rayman project (the same developer who worked on The Lost Crown). Ubisoft Milan has also started work on this new “research phase” of the Rayman brand.

This update follows Ancel’s departure from the games industry after more than 30 years in September 2020. He was accused of “toxic leadership” shortly after and denied the claims at the time, calling it “fake news”.
