The Game Awards are over for another year, but people are still digesting the news of how many people ended up watching the show this year. One of them is former president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime. Reggie himself had a history at The Game Awards. While still with Nintendo, he was there to help present the announcements the company had to share. When he retires, he will become the host of the show.
Reggie reacted to the news that The Game Awards 2024 is breaking viewership records, commenting that the show is “the biggest global entertainment event of our time, now shockingly bigger than the NFL's Super Bowl”. Although the series can indeed compete with the Super Bowl in terms of viewership, it is not really the world's biggest entertainment. For example, the 2022 FIFA World Cup final had 1,500,000,000 viewers on television alone. Regardless, you can see Reggie's comments below.
