It’s GOTY time, folks.
Looking back over the past 12 months, it’s been an incredibly fruitful year for gamers. The industry-wide layoffs in recent months have been a sobering counterpoint to the glut of great games for anyone who cares about the talented people who made them and the future of the medium, and a backlog of pandemic-related projects that appear to have ended in 2023 has made it difficult to keep track of everything we’d wanted, but it’s been a good year for anyone who just plays video games, and the Switch is enjoying an excellent seventh cycle.
Although the future is uncertain in many respects, the quality cannot be denied and amount of software since January, as well as ours (and we’re sure your) the backlog can testify. Here at Nintendo Life, we’re in the process of compiling our own GOTY list for our staff, but once again we’ll be releasing a dynamic Top 50 Switch Games of the Year ranked by the community, according to your rank.
We have one for each year since 2017, each ranked by the corresponding user rating of the game in our database. Here are the Best Switch Game winners from the past six years:
But who do you think will come out on top this one year? Well, we have a fair idea, but ultimately it’s up to you, dear readers.
How to rate your games in 2023
Below you’ll find every Switch game we’ve reviewed this year rated 6/10 or higher.
All Switch games released in 2023 are eligible and available to rate through our database. We’ve simply limited the ones shown below to avoid endless pages of shovelware — and there were a lot of them. If there’s something we didn’t review (or just didn’t enjoy as much as you did), you can find it by going to the search bar at the very top of the page and going directly to that game’s page.
We recommend that you use the search bar below to find the games you’re looking for, but you can browse the list if you want.
All of your ratings will then be sorted into an uber list of your 50 best Switch games of 2023, which will continue to be influenced by user ratings even after it’s published. If a great game launches between now and the New Year, it still has a chance to be featured if it gets enough love to crack the Top 50.
