As you well know, Luigi’s Mansion 3 received update 1.3.0 a few days ago. Among the new features, the game's first downloadable content pack was released. Here we bring you a short review about it.
East downloadable content pack 1 It is now available to all those players who have purchased the paid DLC known as the Luigi’s Mansion 3 Multigame Pack. This pack can be purchased in the Nintendo Switch eShop for a price of € 9.99.
This multi-game pack includes this downloadable content pack 1 that we can already enjoy and also downloadable content pack 2, which will be launched no later than July 31, 2020. However, in this review we will focus on the first pack and when the second is released in summer we will analyze it with another review.
Flashlight type E
Let's now talk about what this first pack includes, the first of the contents being a new type of flashlight that we can use throughout the story mode in the main adventure as well as in the Tower of challenges. This flashlight is called flashlight type E and if we look we see that in the projection of light you can see the face of Ectochucho.
In the following image you can see how it looks:
Challenge Tower
Let us focus now on the news that this first pack includes in one of the Luigi's Mansion 3 game modes. We are talking about the Tower of Challenges, a mode linked to the story mode because it is necessary to load the game to access it but it is developed from independently. In case you do not remember what it was about, then we leave you the details and trailer like this.
It is a cooperative multiplayer mode in which up to 8 players can participate. The mode can be played both locally individually or cooperatively, or online mode individually or cooperatively. Online mode requires Nintendo Switch Online. It should also be noted that this Challenge Tower allows you to play through wireless multiplayer with several Nintendo Switches and a copy of the game for each of them. The goal is for all players to cooperate to destroy all the ghosts on one of the tower's floors while earning rewards and power-ups. In this way, you go up the tower until you reach the top. It is a mode that is quite fun, especially if you join several players in the game. The more you are, the easier it will be to go up the floors.
This first pack of downloadable content includes the following new features in this mode:
Three new special outfits available in the challenge tower. When you put them on, we can visit floors that match the theme of the costume in question. They are as follows:
- Momiluigi: It allows us to visit eternal suites
- Green Knight: Allows us to visit the medieval castle
- Luigi disco: It allows us to visit the disco
This downloadable content has also included ghosts with new looks.
Luigi vs. Luigi
Aside from what's new in the Challenge Tower, multiplayer mode Luigi vs. Luigi It has also received news with this first pack of downloadable content. As with the previous one, we remind you of what this game mode is in case you do not know it along with several trailers.
This is a competitive multiplayer mode where up to 8 players can join on a single console (for example with a single Joy-Con horizontally each) and enjoy the mini-games included with the original game without DLC. You can find them detailed in this link.
Moving on to what is included in the DLCWe must emphasize that this first pack includes three other minigames just as fun. We leave them detailed below:
- Electrified fighter: In this game, the team with the most points capturing ghosts will win, although everyone should pay attention to the floor panels that light up, since electric shocks make us lose points.
- Dodgeball: The objective of this game is to knock down all the members of the opposing team to win. When they hit you three times, you fall and then a teammate from your own team must help you. The key is to use the thruster in order to dodge the shots.
- Churning river: The objective this time is to get as many coins as possible. We must pay special attention to the trunks that float down the river and we must also bear in mind that if we fall in the waterfall we lose all the coins.
As you can see, this first content pack is full of news, although as you can see, they focus on the multiplayer mode. In fact, those responsible for the title explained to us a few weeks ago why. As we already commented in the analysis, both the Tower mode of the challenges and Luigi against Luigi have multiplayer as their main focus, reminding us in many cases of the essence of Mario Party.
For this reason, we recommend this DLC to those who have someone to play with. If you are looking for an extension of the story, this downloadable content is not for you, as it is completely isolated from the main adventure mode. In fact, the only connection we found is the possibility of using the E-type flashlight in story mode, since the rest of the content, including the new suits, cannot be used in it.
However, if what you are looking for is to expand this multiplayer experience or enjoy the additional mini-games of Super mario party never received, this is a good opportunity to do so, as the fun for several people is guaranteed. The controls in the new mini-games are still as faithful and precise as in the modes available with the standard game, so if you have tried them and you like them, these paid ones will not leave you indifferent.
Finally, we remind you that in iGamesNews we will continue to be very aware of the availability of the second pack of downloadable content scheduled for July. Of these we have only been able to know the following image, which confirms that there will be three new costumes for the Tower of challenges and another three mini-games for Luigi against Luigi:
As you can see, it seems that it will be very similar to the first pack of downloadable content. We hope that this review has been useful to you and, as we were saying, stay tuned to the web to find out the details of the next pack of downloadable content.
