Apogee Entertainment, New Blood Interactive and Nightdive Studios have announced a delay for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch versions of “Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition”. Originally scheduled for release on July 31st, a new release date for these consoles has not been announced, while the PC version remains unchanged and will continue to launch via Steam and GOG on the scheduled date. New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry attributed the delay to “some [certification] problems (stupid things) on consoles.” While disappointing for console gamers looking for a classic shooter experience, the developers are undoubtedly working on fixing the certification issues to provide a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.
For those unfamiliar with the game, “Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition” is an exciting homage to the golden age of shooters, combining simplicity with high-octane action. The remastered version, powered by Nightdive’s KEX Engine, features 4K visuals, an increased field of view, and an incredible 60 frames per second, allowing players to immerse themselves in explosive gameplay and face the dangers of a mysterious island full of cultists. The Ludicrous Edition offers tons of exciting features, including multiplayer support, achievements, and an enchanted baseball bat. Players can equip themselves with the HUNT team, a five-man task force, and experience both the classic campaign and restored cut content. Moreover, a brand new episode of the original story set in the Rise of the Triad universe will be available for players to embark on a new adventure.
