Once again, here we get interesting statements from Masahiro Sakurai, director of Super Smash Bros. As on previous occasions, the information has been shared in his weekly Famitsu column.

This time, the creative focuses on the theme of the moment: the coronavirus pandemic. He also adds that, despite the outbreak, "things are going well" in terms of his work on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The creative thinks that the staff working on this project deserves our full recognition, although he also points out that some workers took up to two hours to get to their jobs and that working from home is more comfortable for them. He acknowledges that there are temptations to play or sleep while at home, although he remains focused on his work.

He adds that he always responds to his emails until midnight and that he now has a better sense of the passage of time when he is at home. Plus, he's overseeing everything to do with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so he has quite a bit of homework. He also points out that sometimes it is somewhat difficult to explain some things by mail and that you would like to do it in person.

To solve it, he uses video calls, although he recognizes that bringing everyone together is a real challenge. For these types of conversations, Sakurai has bought a microphone and a grabber to work from home, where he has built a studio to play and collaborate in development.
