SEGA is unhappy with how its titles performed during the all-important Christmas period, saying sales were “weak” and “sluggish”. This is why the company issued a financial warning. One of the games mentioned by SEGA was Sonic Superstars, which fell short of expectations, although it clearly faced a major challenge in direct competition against the sublime Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
“In the Consumer area, although we released some new titles in Q3, including Sonic Superstars, Endless Dungeon and Total War: Pharaoh, sales were sluggish during the holiday sales season.”
