Video game companies have been on quite an acquisition spree lately. Devolver Digital recently bought Doinksoft, Microsoft bought Bethesda and is currently trying to get Activision-Blizzard, Sony bought Bungie, and now SEGA’s parent company looks set to make its own move.
You see, the Wall Street Journal reported that SEGA’s parent company, SEGA Sammy Holdings Inc., is in the process of finalizing a deal with Rovio Entertainment that would be worth $1 billion. At this point, if things go well, the deal could be finalized next week.
If you don’t know who Rovio Entertainment is, then you are more than likely familiar with their very popular franchise that has been around on mobile devices for years. Rovio Entertainment is best known for being the company behind the Angry Birds games.
