2021 was apparently another “record year” for gaming talk on the social media giant Twitter – and as part of this, the platform has now rounded up the video game highlights of the year into a single post.
All up, there were 2.4 billion tweets about gaming, a 14% YoY increase – with Q4 being the biggest quarter for gaming conversation on the site.
In terms of the most tweeted about games – the mobile / console hit Genshin Impact took out the top spot, followed by Apex Legends in second place and Ensemble Stars! in third. Further down, we can see Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons in sixth (it took out the top spot in the previous year) and even titles like Minecraft and Fortnite.

Japan was the country that talked the most about gaming in 2021, followed by the US and South Korea, and the UK was in the eighth spot.
