Think of the Nintendo DS generation and you can remember the special edition Solatorobo: Red Hunter. CyberConnect2's Action-RPG has been well received in all regions but h as sold only around 100,000 copies worldwide.
Are there any opportunities the game has brought back, though? CyberConnect2 manager Hiroshi Matsuyama was recently asked about this Q&A recently and said he was open to the idea. A key issue will be how the game works in a new system that may not support Solatorobo's design. Here is the text, courtesy of Nintendo Everything:
Of course, you may be here. As you know, Soboboto was the only game released on Nintendo DS. You all remember, didn't you? The Nintendo DS had two screens. The top screen was a gaming screen and the first was a touch panel.
On the practical side of things, it would be very difficult to move a game without the hardware that supports this system. You may have to upgrade the Solatorobo touch panel system, and integrate the bottom screen into one screen, but you may want to be completely redone. I feel that this can present its own difficulties.
Matsuyama has come into the realm of "how much" in CyberConnect2 he would like to release and the company games made during the DS and 3DS generations, but at the same time he may have "restarted from the beginning" in Solatorobo's case.
I personally think that, not only is our title Solatorobo, but with many other games designed for the Nintendo DS and 3DS, many of us would like to re-release, even if it is a downloaded, HD-backed version of these games, so that our current customers can play with our buildings of the past, but at this point, I don't think the industry intends to serve that purpose. If we were trying to remember Solatorobo, we would start at the beginning.
