As most RPG fans will know, yesterday Neo: The World Ends With You was officially announced for summer of next year. This is the sequel to The World Ends With You, title that was originally launched on Nintendo DS and is also available on Switch.
The most curious thing is that shortly after the revelation of NEO: The World Ends With You for Switch and PlayStation 4, Persona 5 began to be a trend on social networks such as Twitter. As Gamerant points out, the reason is that some players (wrongly) believe that the sequel to The World Ends With You is too much like Persona 5
These are the details they have shared for said comparison:
- Both JRPGs are set in Tokyo and feature the Shibuya shopping district.
- The aesthetics of both games are also similar.
TWEWY came out in 2007 and Shibuya is a real place. We love Persona 5 but come on 😂 pic.twitter.com/X20UG53qMR

Obviously, any player who knows both franchises knows that The World Ends With You was launched long before Persona 5 (specifically in 2007 the first and in 2016 the second), so they are wrong. In any case, Persona 5 may have served as the inspiration for this sequel, but it certainly seems to keep the original design of the first installment.
What do you think?
