Every year a Japanese game magazine and website Famitsu asks the developers what their plans are for the coming year, and this year, Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka was asked about what Sonic Team has in store for players in 2023. Mr. Iizuka says that 2022 was the biggest year in the history of Sonic the Hedgehog and that they’re “preparing a second wave” of content for 2023. SEGA has already announced that additional content will be coming to Sonic Frontiers next year, but he says there’s “a lot more beyond that, so look forward.”
Takashi Iizuka’s ambitions for 2023.
“This past year was the biggest year in Sonic history, including the release of the movie sequel, the new titles Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animation Sonic Prime. We’re preparing a second wave to keep fans happy and keep that momentum going into 2023. We’ve already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there’s a lot more beyond that, so look forward to it.”
