Polygon recently caught up with Shadow the Hedgehog creator and Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka to chat with him about all things Shadow. At the end of the interview, Iizuka was asked what character areas he would like to explore in the future. He responded by saying that “maybe in the future it will be interesting to go back and revisit the Shadow who is not so good, maybe not even so evil.” You’ll be able to play a series of new Shadow the Hedgehog-themed levels in the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations.
“As we wrapped up our interview, I asked Father Shadow the Hedgehog about areas of the character that he would like to explore in the future. “In Sonic Adventure 2, if you go through all the different stories, you probably ran into Shadow taking revenge on the whole world and he was… pretty evil,” Iizuka said. “And since Sonic Adventure 2, we haven’t really explored that ‘Evil Shadow’ presentation of the character. He was always on a different spectrum. But maybe in the future it will be interesting to go back and see Shadow again who is not as nice, maybe even as evil, as the other characters see him.”
