Head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizukaparticipated in a new interview and stated that the much-requested Sonic Adventure 3 is not being worked on. Iizuka did not want to elaborate on the reasons why they did not continue development of the eagerly awaited game. He just said that the team has no plans for that yet and reiterated that they would eventually like to make a third game in the Adventure series, which started life on the SEGA Dreamcast. He also said that the company also has no plans to make a standalone Chao Garden game, as it considers it part of the Sonic Adventure experience.
“When we’re talking about Chao Garden specifically, I know everyone’s thinking ‘I want Chao Garden, I want Chao Garden,'” Iizuka replied (through a translator). “But Chao Garden is part of… it’s part of the whole Sonic Adventure series of games.”
“It’s not a standalone game, it’s integrated into the entire gameplay of the Adventure series, so we can’t just cut it off and turn it into a thing. And so, okay, well, if you’re looking for Chao Garden and Adventure 3, then that’s pretty much what Adventure 3 is looking for.
“I think at some point I’d like to say ‘hey, yeah, we’re doing Adventure 3,’ but we don’t have plans for that yet. It’s just one of those things that if, if the stars align and it can all happen, then yeah, we’d love to make it happen.”
