Despite all the first comeback and all new fiasco, this year Sonic the Hedgehog the movie went on to become a huge success at the box office. The film has managed to hit the records set by the recently successful foreign film, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and continue to earn nearly $ 210 million in just 10 days.
Given the success, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear about the upcoming sequel, but the director of the film Jeff Fowler emphasized that there are no talks like this happening right now. In conversation with USA Today, notes that while the sequel is unplanned, "he would like to do more" with Sonic and friends on the big screen:
"There are so many great characters to bring and just so many stories to tell, [but] nothing could bring me more joy than getting another shot with these characters and telling a lot of stories. We would love to do more with Sonic cinema in the Universe."
If you haven't seen the film yet, remember that its digital release has been brought before and available as we speak; The Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release is scheduled for May 19th.
