Square Enix put on an impressive show at last year's E3, so how will it be supported now that this year's demolition has been officially canceled? Japanese publisher and developer has released a statement (via Twitter), saying it is "considering alternatives" to share its 2020 with the next gen-up of fans. Here's the full message:
With the world changed and united, there is nothing more important than protecting the health and well-being of employees and their families, our partners and, no doubt, our fans. We support ESA's decision to cancel E3 2020 and send our strongest thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring unforgettable games and experiences to E3. We understand that this is frustrating not only for our developers and publishers, but also for the thousands of fans who came from far away to celebrate the E3 games. We're there with you.
Our 2020 line, and the next generation closer, is stronger than ever at Square Enix. Where E3 has always been an amazing moment in time to showcase our upcoming games, we are looking at other ways to share our games with us. More still to come, stay tuned. Thank you.
Many other companies have also issued statements the day before about their plans now that E3 has been canceled. Nintendo is considering "different ways" to engage with its fanbase, Ubisoft is looking at other options, and Devolver Digital and limited Run Games will still be in the video news. We are confident that many companies will announce some of their plans later.
How do you feel about the cancellation of E3 2020 for a few days? Let us know in the comments.
