It’s true that Star Fox is one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises. Today we have some interesting news for its fans, to say the least.
According to what was shared, Takaya Imamuraan influential Nintendo artist known for his work on F-Zero and Star Fox who left the company in 2021 to focus on his own projects such as the Omega 6 comic, has offered some interesting words. In a recent interview at Gamescom 2024 with VenturebeatImamura has spoken about the scarcity of Star Fox sequels.
According to him, the reason could be that Shigeru Miyamotowho is very fond of the franchise, prefers not to delegate it to others and wants to actively participate in its development. However, his commitment to other projects, such as his role in the Mario movie, limits the time available to work on new installments of the franchise.
These were his words:
As for the reason why I personally think there aren’t that many sequels, just like F-Zero, it’s a game that Shigeru Miyamoto holds very close to his heart. He doesn’t want to just release it with someone else doing it. He wants to have a big part of it himself. But he’s busy with other things, so he doesn’t get the chance. You can see how important it is to him, when he had a supporting role in the Mario movie recently. Miyamoto had a very important role in the production of that movie. I think that’s the reason. But obviously that’s just my opinion.
You already know that, despite the ups and downs of the series, Dylan Cuthbertprogrammer of the original Star Fox games and founder of Q-Games, is hopeful that Star Fox can return successfully in the future, though he’s skeptical when asked if he thinks Nintendo might be able to recapture the magic of the first game in the series.
What do you think? Will we see him back? Let us know in the comments.
