Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has been trying to balance work on his new game Haunted Chocolatier with the still incredibly successful Stardew Valley. It seems this proved more difficult than Barone expected, as he was unable to leave Stardew Valley on his own. That’s why we were treated to the excellent Stardew Valley 1.6.9 update that launched earlier this week. In the new one interview Barone admitted that he could work on Stardew for the rest of his life, because there’s always something he’s thinking about to add or improve the game. Here’s what he had to say:
So if you work on something for seven years, you’re going to burn out, right? But you keep coming back to the game. You’re even working on this new game, but you’re constantly adding new stuff [to Stardew Valley].
That’s true. I have so many ideas for Stardew. I feel like I could work on it for the rest of my life and just improve it, add more stuff to it, more content, tweak existing content. That’s the main thing I want to do is refine the existing content. And well, here’s another thing: it’s so popular.
