It’s been a while since Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone shared any information about the 1.6 update coming to his lifestyle and farming sim Stardew Valley.

Now, in an update, the creator has revealed that he is taking a temporary break from his new project Haunted chocolate shop work on Stardew 1.6. This next version will be “mostly changes for modders”, but also mentions that there will be some new game content.

“Stardew 1.6 update is coming. It’s mostly changes for modders (which will make modding easier and more powerful). But there’s also new game content, although much less than 1.5. I’m resting Haunted Chocolatier is currently working on this. Then back to HC “

Once work on version 1.6 of Stardew is complete, as noted above, Barone will return to developing Haunted Chocolatier. A previous update on this particular project last December mentioned that “it will still be some time” before it is completed.

Stardew’s previous major update (version 1.5) was released in February 2021 – it added new game options including “Beach Farm”, advanced customization options for gameplay, local split-screen co-op and more.
