When Nintendo announced that it Super Nintendo World the attraction in Japan would be the Donkey Kong expansion Spring 2024our hearts almost jumped out of our chests.
Well, it’s spring 2024. uh, nowso it must be near the end, right? Law. Judging by the above recording recorded by the YouTube channel LCASTUDIOS (Information Bureau USJ)the expansion looks like it’s done at this point, with the flagship rollercoaster being tested to ensure its safety.
We also get a pretty solid look at some of the surrounding attractions set for expansion, which includes a structure that’s remarkably similar to the one we saw in Movie Super Mario Bros
A lot of the later shots in the video are unfortunately obscured by trees, scaffolding and whatnot, but quick glimpses of the driving action are practically enough for us to book some time off and fly to Japan as soon as the expansion opens.
Remember, the ride itself is essentially a copy of the mining cart segments in the classic DK games, with a unique rail mechanism to make it look like the cart is literally jumping over gaps. It’s pretty impressive stuff and we can’t wait to try it out at some point.
