As part of Shovel Knight’s 10th anniversary celebration, Yacht Club Games will be going back to where they started, with the original Shovel of Hope – only this time it’s getting the ‘DX’ treatment! You may remember a few titles from years past that got the same treatment upon initial release and now we do Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX.
This is a new “enhanced edition” of the Shovel Knight adventure that started it all. Apart from Steam, no other platforms have been confirmed (but a Nintendo release seems very likely given the history of the series) and we don’t have a release date yet, but we know it’s “coming soon”, so hopefully there isn’t too long to go.
The DX version will introduce new and exciting features such as the ability to choose your champion from a range of 20 unique characters. There’s also a new “Rewind” and save state feature to ease the pressure on the platform. You can even enjoy some co-op action in local and online multiplayer. And there is stereoscopic 3D as a highlight!!

And for complete immersion, return to the world of Shovel Knight in full stereoscopic 3D.
For the first time, use the rewind power to hone your platforming skills or use Save States to pause and plan your next moves. With over 300 classic gameplay cheats, customize your experience to be as challenging or as weird as you want. All of these codes can now be enabled simultaneously, offering endless ways to remix your adventure.
Simply put, this is the final release of the Shovel of Hope. It’s also our way of preserving the game’s historical functionality, ensuring that these elements remain available to future generations of players.
