You may recall that back in July, Nintendo was confirmed to be suing Ryan Daly, a modder who Nintendo claims runs a company called Modded Hardware that sells “modded Switch consoles and MIG switches”. Nintendo accuses Daly of allowing players to pirate Switch games on unmodified hardware. Daly was also accused of offering a mail-in service where users could mod their Switch consoles and pre-install pirated games.
Since then, Daly has continued to refuse to end his job. In fact, he’s now told the court he doesn’t believe he did anything wrong, including owning and operating Modded Hardware. Daly is reportedly going to court without an attorney, and the case is now entering the discovery phase. This means that statements, requests for documents and more will appear. Meanwhile, the Modded Hardware site is now private and can only be accessed with a password.
