We all know that the big N has great titles and iconic characters, but perhaps what not everyone knows is that many Nintendo games featured their own anime. From Super Mario to Kirby, going through Fire Emblem or Kid Icarus and, of course, Pokémon, there have been many animated series based on these video games.

Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
We begin this review of the best anime based on Nintendo games with one of the most beloved characters: Kirby. Years before Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a game that, by the way, continues to sweep both sales and critics, an animated series of the big N’s pink ball was released that was based on his video game stories. .
This anime, broadcast between October 2001 and September 2003 in Japan, had 100 episodes, 1 special chapter and a pilot episode. The series was later licensed and distributed in English and aired under the name of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
Of course, in addition to Kirby, the anime could not miss other iconic characters from the saga, such as Waddle Dee, King Dedede or Meta Knight.
Fire Emblem
You may not know it, igamesnews, but Firm Emblen is one of those prestigious Nintendo games that has its own anime, although in this case it is a bit short.
In 1995, Fire Emblen, an anime OVA (Original Video Animation) based on the SNES title, was released in Japan. Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. the series in question it had only two episodes and covered a very small part of the game’s plot; Perhaps no more chapters were released because of the little interest it aroused or because funding was not obtained.
Both episodes were released in 1997 on VHS in North America, fully dubbed and subtitled, and a year later, in 1998, they arrived in Latin America.
F-Zero: GP Legend
Better known than the Fire Emblen OVA is F-Zero: GP Legend, a 51-episode anime broadcast in Japan from October 2003 to September 2004.
The series tells us the story of Rick Wheeler, a policeman who is killed by a criminal named Zoda and is resurrected in the year 2201. Wheeleer discovers that Zoda has also been resurrected and, while trying to hunt him down, he finds himself in his way that the legendary racing driver and famous bounty hunter Captain Falconin addition to other brokers.
As a curiosity, it should be noted that, some time after the anime was broadcast, a game with the same name was released for the Game Boy Advance.
Kid Icarus
Another of the Nintendo games that has its own anime is Kid Icarus. this series, distributed by Nintendo on Nintendo Video and My Nintendo Japan, featured three episodes
The first of these chapters, called The Supper Rebellion, has two parts and narrates the adventures of Paulatena, who accidentally gives life to some vegetables that cause problems in the Kingdom of Heaven.
The second episode is called Medusa’s Revenge, and tells of the past of this character, when he ruled the Kingdom of Heaven together with Paulatena.
Finally, chapter three of this series is titled The Rise of Thanatos. In it, the battle that Pit wages against Medusa, Thanatos and his armies is told.
Super Mario
You may not know it, but the big N threw a Super Mario Cartoon Movie, about an hour, where our favorite plumbers had to rescue Princess Peach of the evil Bowser to the rhythm of music.
This curious anime was released in theaters in Japan on July 20, 1986 and, later, it came in VHS format.
As a curiosity, it should be noted that, in this film, a prince appeared for the first and last time in the franchise. This character was a partner of Peach and was the reason why Mario could not complete her romance with her by saving her.
Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat’s Mystery Solving Files
From April 2018 to March 2019, Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat’s Mystery Solving Files aired on Japanese television. This anime focuses on the characters in the game Layton’s Mysterious Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy
With a total of 50 episodes, the series tells us the story of Katrielle Layton, daughter of Professor Hershel Layton, who created the Layton Detective Agency. Together with her assistant, Ernest Greeves, and Sherl, a talking dog, she takes on all kinds of requests to solve mysterious cases that concern her British classmates.
Pokémon
We wanted to leave for the end of this list the one that is probably the best known of all those mentioned: pokemon anime.
On February 27, 1996, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, the first installments of the mythical saga, went on sale in Japan. The success of these titles was such that, just a few months later, on April 1, 1997, his own animated series was released.
With more than 1,000 episodes behind it, as well as specials and a total of 23 movies, this anime, which tells the adventures of Ash Ketchum on his way to becoming a Pokémon master, is one of the animated series based on Nintendo characters most popular out there. Each new game released has been accompanied by a new story arc within the series; the most recent is pokemon tripswhich is nearing its climax.
For this reason, it is not unreasonable to think that, when Pokémon Scarlet and Purple are released, we will be able to enjoy a new adventure of Ash, Pikachu and company.
