Daedalic Entertainment has brought the fantasy point-and-clicker The Night of the Rabbit to Switch and it’s available on the eShop from… today! Originally released on PC in 2013, it’s a thing of beauty, as you can tell from the trailer for the Switch release above.
Described in the blurb as “reminiscent of classic LucasArts adventures,” we can’t guarantee whether that just means classic-style P&C or not, but if the voice acting and anim ation are anything to go by, it might be a little special, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Indeed, check out the Steam page you’ll see that it has a “Very Positive” rating from 2,396 reviews at the time of writing — not to be sniffed at — and is ranked 75 above Metacritic.
But what is it about? you may be wondering. Well, let’s see how the publisher describes it, followed by some screenshots:
Lose yourself in a story of magic and wonder, where everything is possible and nothing is as it seems: join young Jerry and follow the unusual white rabbit to the wondrous realm of Mousewood, a land where creatures can speak and where mystery abounds.
It was developed by Matthias Kempke, who believes that “game design is all about creating new worlds for players to explore”, Night of the rabbit is a story-driven exploration/adventure game with beautiful hand-crafted 2D art, full voice acting, and puzzles reminiscent of classic LucasArts adventures. The narrative starts lighthearted and funny, but soon switches to a dramatic and thought-provoking tone during the 20 hours of gameplay. This multi-layered story features original characters and world designs based on short stories written by the game’s creator, included as in-game bonuses.
If you like the sound of that and the look of the trailer above, the game isn’t out on the Switch eShop for $19.99 / £16.99.
