One of the most important changes of Nintendo Switch With respect to its predecessors, it was the ease of development, offering work environments that both large companies and independent entities have taken advantage of.
This was the reason why the console has received thousands of games, among which is the recent port of Sir Eatsalot. In a recent interview with SwitchIndieFix, the game's developer, Behind the Stone, mentioned that performing the port was indeed "surprisingly easy."
These were his words:
Yes, we use Unity. And yes, it was surprisingly easy to port Switch. I guess it wasn't that difficult because Nintendo Switch is (technically speaking) the most powerful console in terms of specifications (CPU, GPU), which means that, by default, our game worked better. We optimized everything we could from Sir Eatsalot for the Vita, we did everything we could with our knowledge back then. Our goal was to have a fluid experience of 60 FPS in the Vita, but we simply couldn't do it. Run at 30FPS, although there is a specific place in the game where it even drops to 24/25 … and it drives me crazy.
But with Switch. Boom! 60 FPS, without changing anything.
The "difficult" things to change were the entrance and the entire storage system. Each platform has its own internal way of doing things and you MUST use these systems. So, to answer which was the easiest platform: Switch, but, of course, this experience is a bit skewed since most of the production was already done and we didn't have to change tons of things.
