In a recent meeting with Verge, the director of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Aya Kyogoku, has confirmed that they decided to change the location to give a new air to the franchise. We leave you with his words:
When we think about changing those relationships between the user and the neighbors, we think: ‘Well, what if we remove the village?’ Putting the player on a desert island is the solution we came up with.
