E3 has always been the highlight of the summer with a slew of high-profile video game announcements and new hardware introductions. The Entertainment Software Association confirmed this afternoon that the fair is officially dead and that there are no plans to revive it. Reedpop tried and failed to regenerate the annual event in Los Angeles, and that seems to have been the final nail in the coffin, aside from gaming companies making their own online presentations as well as the introduction of The Summer Game Fest. Here’s what Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of ESA had to say:
“We know that the entire industry, gamers and creators have a great passion for E3. We share that passion. We know it’s hard to say goodbye to such a beloved event, but it’s the right thing to do given the new opportunities our industry has to reach fans and partners.”
