It’s been over 7 years since Fortnite was released and 6 years since it was officially ported to the Nintendo Switch. Since then, it has quickly become one of the few live action games to achieve huge success. It has been so successful that even live in-game events can result in the participation of many millions of players.
For example, there was recently a live event where players had to defeat Doctor Doom. According to Eurogamer, there was a simultaneous peak of 5,600,000 players participating in the event. This is Fortnite’s highest concurrent total since the 11,600,000 players who participated in the Big Bang live event last December.
