Thanks again to TaraBates for keeping us updated on developer tweets.
Update #2 [Thu 30th Mar, 2023 10:30 BST]: The second series of codes is now available!
Update: Well, it seems we’ve opened the floodgates! Ultra Dolphin Revolution has confirmed that it has run out of codes for now, but don’t fear, the developer will try to get some more to give away to you dear Wii U fans. (Thanks Sunsy for the heads up!)
Also, make sure that watch the Captain U trailer if you’re curious about the game (thanks for sharing, TaraBates).
Original article: Ultra Dolphin Revolution, the indie developer that has created a number of games currently exclusive to the Wii U eShop, is giving away 128 download codes for its latest Wii U title, Captain U .
Despite the Wii U closing its doors earlier this week, you can still redeem download codes to April 3rd, around 9:30am PT. As a result, Ultra Dolphin Revolution has decided to share its work with the world and is sharing Captain U codes on Twitter for Europe and North America.
North American codes start here in five tweetsfollowed by European codes in the next five tweets. Some of the codes in the tweets may have already been redeemed, so if you’re interested in one, keep trying!
It’s an amazing gesture and another representation of the community — both fans and developers — coming together to celebrate Wii U and 3DS to share the titles and memories that make these platforms unique.
Ultra Dolphin Revolution has ten games on the Wii U eShop, some of which are upgraded versions of their previous releases. Many titles are inspired by classic NES platformers, both in gameplay and visual style. (Editor’s Note: We previously miscounted the Ultra Dolphin Revolutions games on the Wii U eShop and have since updated this article)
In addition to sharing the codes for their game, Ultra Dolphin Revolution also commissioned some amazing artwork to celebrate their titles on Wii U. Work by game artists and illustrators Sapphire Wong it is nothing short of beautiful.
Have you played Captain U? Will you miss the Wii U eShop now that it’s gone forever? Let us know in the comments.
