You may recall that Sonic Superstars, a new 2.5D Sonic game, was officially announced by SEGA at Summer Game Fest just a few days ago. Since then, details about the new Sonic game have gradually trickled in from various gaming outlets throughout the day.
Tonight we got some big news from Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka. Iizuka confirmed that Arzest is developing the game. If that name sounds familiar, that’s because Arzest is the team behind Yoshi’s New Island, Hey! Pikmin and Balan Wonderworld. The president of Arzest is the original character designer for Sonic the Hedgehog, Naoto Ohshima.
As for the music, the music director is Jun Senoue. However, Iizuka mentions that he is not only working on game music. According to Iizuka, Senoue is “working with internal teams at Sega to create music in that classic Sonic vibe, and also working with some external teams like Tee Lopes who helped out on Sonic Mania.”
